It’s always an honor when I get to take Chicago engagement photos. That’s true no matter who the couple is but it’s especially true when it is for a good friend from high school. I always love reconnecting with people from home. I met Steph and Kyle in the Chicago suburbs for their couples photography session at St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL. If you haven’t heard of St. Mary’s you are missing out. This place is such a hidden gem of the northern suburbs! It is calm, quiet, and most importantly, not at all crowded. It makes for a really calm session and it puts couples at ease when they don’t have to think about a ton of people watching or seeing them during their session.
It was a chilly October afternoon and it was a perfect warmup for their Chicago wedding. The leaves were changing and had mostly fallen off of the trees so it was easy for these fiancés to cozy up for some really cute photos. The weather was colder than expected and these two handled it so gracefully. The upside to the weather was that the grounds were completely empty. Because of this, we made our way to all of the prettiest spots on the grounds with total ease.
As you can see from the photos, we made the most of our time together! You just can’t beat a dreary brisk fall afternoon in the midwest. Steph and Kyle have plans to get married in the suburbs of Chicago, at her grandmother’s church and afterwards they will have their reception at the Marriott in Lincolnshire, IL. I can’t wait to celebrate them and photograph their big day!
