Intimate Spring Southall Meadows Wedding | Emily + Coy

Weddings

“We want an intentional, thoughtful, intimate feel.” That was how our conversation started about Emily and Coy’s Southall Meadows wedding. Emily continued, “Most of my life I thought about the family and marriage, not the wedding day. I always wanted to get married on the farm. When I think about it now, I think: connected and peaceful, really taking in the day, with a focus on storytelling and generations – having storytelling woven throughout the day.”

Emily had dreams of getting married under the giant tree on her family farm. But that dream shifted when her family sold the farm. Emily and Coy were determined to find a venue that embodied the same feel as her family farm. Because of their priorities, it was no surprise that they landed at Southall Meadows. From the beautiful towering tree in the meadow, to the 100 year old tobacco barn, and the modern hall next to it, it was the perfect combination of what they envisioned for their wedding day.

The conversation then moved more specifically into photography. I asked Emily what her and Coy needed in order to feel like the partnership was a success with their photographer. Personal connection was at the top of their list. Emily wanted someone there on the day of that could anticipate her needs and strike the balance between pivoting/being flexible and gently offering direction + guidance. It was just as important to her to choose a photographer who her and Coy would feel at ease with so that they could be comfortable and fully show up to the point that they forget that they’re being photographed.

Getting Ready | Magnolia Acres

Emily and Coy had their rehearsal dinner at Magnolia Acres. Following dinner, the girls spent the night at the historic estate. They had a slow morning as they sipped their coffee and got ready for the day. There wasn’t an ounce of rushing to be found anywhere. Emily and Coy’s chose to have a longer timeline for the day since one of their biggest priorities of the day was to be present, peaceful, and connected. We added an extra hour of coverage to ensure there was no pressure to rush through the moments.

The Wedding Day | Southall Meadows

We headed to Southall Meadows for Emily and Coy’s first look. Again, connection and being present were the priorities so we gave ample time and space for their first look. It was a quiet moment buzzing with joy and excitement

We moved straight into a few sweet moments with their bridal party and family before the ceremony.

The Ceremony | Southall Meadows

Surrounded by the rolling hills of Tennessee, The Harpeth River, and their closest loved ones, Emily and Coy exchanged heartfelt vows under the towering tree in the pasture. It had all the feelings of nostaglia and spring magic.

Coffee Hour | The Modern Hall at Southall

Emily owns a coffee cart business, Asulon Collective. So it was only fitting that instead of a traditional cocktail hour, they had a coffee hour (which they actually stretched into an hour and a half). This gave them ample time to really connect with their guests.

The Reception | The Tobacco Barn + The Hall at Southall Meadows

Following coffee hour, Emily and Coy took a moment for a reception reveal. This is the perfect moment for couples to step away and take in all of their intentional decisions made over their engagement to bring their vision to life.

Soon after, the guests were welcomed in to begin dinner and toasts.

Emily and Coy snuck out for some quiet moments together during golden hour after dinner. It felt like the exhale of the day. The formalities of the day were over and they were married!

Dancing in The Hall

Afterwards, guests moved into The Hall. They finished off the night with dancing and ice cream. It was the perfect cap to end a beautiful day.
